The guest friendly hotels stated below are all located on and around White Sand Beach, the most popular beach on Koh Chang and within walking distance of the beer bars, discos and nightlife hot spots of the town. These establishments are also very popular with like minded visitors and I have personally taken the time to contact each and every single one of them as of November 2012 to make sure their guest friendly policy is still in effect. You can check out the reply they provided at the end of each individual hotel description. All offer both great value and good service while the rates themselves can greatly vary from budget to 5 star luxury.

So, where is the action at on Koh Chang?

While the vast majority of the visitors who make their way to Koh Chang are more interested in daytime beach activities and island exploring than raucous nightlife this doesn’t mean there’s no bar girl or freelance action to be had. Your best bet for female companionship is to explore the twenty or so beer bars of “Little Pattaya” located on the South end of White Sand Beach or try your luck in one of the discos a bit further down the road.

Wondering what exactly is a guest friendly hotel ?

A hotel that is considered guest or Bargirl friendly / Girl Friendly / Guest Friendly simply means that the establishment will allow and won’t charge any extra to take back an unregistered guest up to your room. A joiner fee can cost anywhere around from 10 to 25$ a night but could be even higher depending on the hotel policy. So if you unknowingly book a non-guest friendly hotel and plan on taking a lady back up to your room everyday for a week then you’re going to be paying a substantial amount of money unnecessarily or even worst risk her being denied entry. This is by no means an indication of their respectability as each hotel has different policies as long as you’re somewhat discreet. I have taken the time to e-mail them all personally to make sure about their policy and have given their reply with the hotel description.

Alina Grande Hotel & Resort $/$$/$$$

9/10 Moo 4, White Sand Beach, Koh Chang, Thailand

The Alina Grande Hotel & Resort are in fact two separate hotels with the same owner: The Alina Resort is the original complex which is comprised of a mix of bungalows and traditional rooms with balcony. While they are not the newest anymore everything is nice and clean with A/C in every room at what amounts to pretty decent prices considering the central location with direct access to the beach. Their newer hillside complex is only a few years old and is the one referred to as the Alina Grande. Here everything is much more spacious and modern and while you might pay a little more I personally think it’s well worth the extra for the room comfort. In the end all depends if you want to trader a bit of luxury to be just a few short steps from the beach or not.

Baan Ton Rak Boutique Resort $$

6/10 / 9 Moo 4, Pearl Beach, Koh Chang, Thailand

The Baan Ton Rak Boutique Resort is a small and friendly resort located at Pearl beach about 1.5 km South from the main strip of White Sands Beach. All of the six lovely rooms they have to offer are decent and clean with all the basic facilities (Air-con, TV, Wi-Fi, in room safe, hot & cold water shower). The decor around the resort also provide for a pleasant atmosphere with the various plants, fountains, stone carvings and outside covered areas where you can sit and relax on soft beds. The only downside is it’s a bit of a walk to White Sands Beach and the little Pattaya beer bars but they do rent scooters for only 150 THB a day.

Banpu Koh Chang Hotel $$$/$$$$

9/11 Moo 4, White Sand Beach, Koh Chang, Thailand

The Banpu Koh Chang Hotel is cozy little hideaway centrally located on White Sand Beach. Scattered throughout it’s lush tropical garden you have a choice between spacious bungalows and rooms in their main two floor building. Both are very clean and we furnished with: Air conditioning, mini-bar, safe, TV, hot & cold shower, mosquito nets, television and balcony. Unlike some other nearby resorts, the Banpu isn’t cramped with too many rooms giving you a sense of intimacy and space. They have a nice pool area (picture above) that’s only 20 meters from the beach. Staff is also very friendly and accommodating. There are only two downside that I could think of, first their Wi-Fi internet isn’t free and actually pretty damn expensive at 100 THB/hour. Secondly, there are only 10 or so channels on the TV. But in the end, If you can do without those two I can definitely recommend this resort.

Buffalo Bill Hotel Koh Chang $/$$

The Buffalo Bill Hotel is located across the street just 50 meters from the northern part of white sand beach. The hotel is in fact a Pub & Steakhouse Restaurant with an American/Western theme going that have number of rooms attached to it. The standard rooms are decent and come with all the needed basic essentials: A/C, TV, hot & cold shower, fridge, safe & Free Wi-Fi internet. The one downside is that it’s across the road from the popular Sabay Bar and that sometimes the live music could be bothersome to those who want an early nights sleep. Otherwise for the proximity of the beach and prices in the low 1000 THB range it could be an option if other more popular resorts are full.

Koh Chang Grand View Resort $$/$$$/$$$$

The Koh Chang Grandview Resort is found at the Southern tip of White Sands in a quiet location only a short stroll on the beach from the main bars, restaurants & shops. I stayed in one of the sea-view bungalows and they are very clean and spacious furnished with everything you need inside: Big bed, flat-screen TV with a hundred or so channels (but most in Thai), A/C, mini bar, desk, hot & cold shower, etc. I would recommend the rooms on the beach side VS the ones along road unless you get substantially cheaper deal as they are not exactly as inspiring to say the least. The only downside I had was that the Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby and not like as specified online in rooms. You can fix that easily though with one of the local paid Wi-Fi services available for around 100 THB/day. Otherwise the staff is friendly here (but most speak only very basic English) and the resort has a very nice pool near it’s beach end.

Keeree Ele Hotel Koh Chang $$$/$$$$

9/3 Moo 4, A. Koh Chang, White Sand Beach, Koh Chang, Thailand

While the Keeree ele’ Hotel is a little bit up the hill and a good 10 minutes walk from the beach it’s very conveniently located less than 5 away from the “Little Pattaya” concentration of beer bars. Newly opened in 2009, the Keeree ele’ is modern and beautifully decorated with rooms that offer views of the sea on one side and mountains on the other (or both in the case of the deluxe ones). The deluxe room was really big and the bed and bathroom both very stylish and well furnished with: Air conditioning, cable TV, big shower/bathtub, mini bar, large balcony/terrace & refrigerator. What was missing was the free in room Wi-Fi & safe, while both are available in the lobby this should really be included for a hotel in this price range. The hotel also has a smallish but beautiful pool with a sun loungers. All in all this place is a little expensive but they regularly run promos that make it then worth staying here.

Paddy’s Palms Resort $/$$

9/99 Moo 4 , White Sand Beach, Koh Chang, Thailand

Recently opened in 2006, the Paddy’s Palms Resort is one of my favorite places to stay in Koh Chang and honestly I think you’d be hard pressed to find better value for money elsewhere these days. During my last trip in October, 900 THB would get you one of their deluxe room which besides being very modern, spacious and clean include: A big and comfortable king sized bed, TV with plenty of English & Thai speaking channels, quiet but powerful A/C unit, small fridge with 2 free bottles of water each day, western bathroom with separate toilet & shower, plenty of storage space for luggage & your clothes, free Wi-Fi and a little balcony area with table and chairs. Location wise the hotel is around a 10 minutes walk to White Sands Beach, even closer from all of the nightlife venues and just a stone’s throw away from Little Pattaya’s dozen or so beer bar enclave. Included in the price is a small free buffet breakfast served at their restaurant with the choices of cereals & fruit then bacon, eggs & toast with all the tea and coffee or juice you can drink. Not to forget their nice little pool area at the side of the hotel with rarely any people around making it a great place to relax on a hot day. So if you want my opinion, Paddy’s Palms Resort is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Guest Friendly policy reply from the Paddy’s Palms Resort: Their website’s booking & inquiry engine has been down for a few months (though you can still book through Agoda) so there is no way for me to provide you an adequate official response but I can assure you for personally having been here many times (latest in October 2012) that this hotel is very guest friendly. In fact at around 10PM the reception counter closes (so while I never tried with more than two girls at a time) you could probably get away bringing the whole staff from any given beer bars without anyone noticing.

Top Resort $$/$$$/$$$$

24/45 Moo 4, White Sand Beach, Koh Chang, Thailand

The Top Resort towers along a cliff on the South end of White Sand Beach. While lacking direct access to the beach you can easily walk your way down to it in about 10 minutes. Even better, just like Paddy’s Palm it’s conveniently located right next to the dozen of so girly bars that Koh Chang have to offer! The place is very popular among a German clientele as the owner, attached restaurant and most of the staff are themselves German but the atmosphere is friendly regardless of what Nationality you are. The resort is set amongst beautiful gardens with a lovely swimming situated in a tranquil and relaxed settings with great views looking out to the sea. You can chose between three types of accommodations: The hotel rooms in the main building, bungalows (garden & seaview) or villas over the top of the cliff, facing the gulf. Price go anywhere from 25$ for basic rooms in low season to over 100$ for the high end villas in peak season but all the rooms are furnished at the very minimum with: A/C & fans, TV with a good rance of English channels, fridge filled drinks, electronic in-room safe and bathroom with hot water showers. A Great place especially for first-timers to the Island as the staff speaks excellent English and can give great advice on the abundance of things you can do during your trip.

Ao Nang Guest friendly hotels List:

Ao Nang Cliff View Resort $/$$/$$$

10/5 Soi 11, Moo 2, Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand

The Ao Nang Cliff View is about 5-10 minutes away from the beach and surrounded by a natural jungle and some amazing Cliff Mountains scenery. This Resort is made up of around 30 bungalows and the facilities include a nice pool with some great views, a gym and restaurant which are all located among perfectly groomed manicured tropical gardens. They have price options to stay in and all are of pretty good value. My bungalow was immaculate with a sparkling clean bathrooms, a veranda with chairs, proper hot water and not a bug inside due to good screens that can open up the whole room up but kept those annoying critters out. A free shuttle car leaves to the beach/shops/restaurant/ area every hour.

The Ao Nang Cozy Place is a pleasant hotel that would best suit those looking for clean and decent amenities while keeping the costs to a minimum. Rooms here are clean, modern and all come with flat a screen TV & safe + proper bathroom with hot & cold water. Location is about a 15 mins walk from beach

Aonang Orchid Resort $$$/$$$$

Last time I was at the Aonang Orchid Resort was in late October (low season) they had some very reasonable rates of 2000 Bath for the Superior Rooms. Prices tend to double here though by mid-November. The rooms are absolutely lovely, clean and spacious with comfortable beds, fridge, TV, big safe that managed to fit my 17 inch laptop, boiler provided with cups & Tea and Coffee and a lovely balcony overlooking the best pool I had during during my month long trip in Thailand. The location is second to none! The beach, shops, restaurants and bars are all literally within a minute’s walk but slightly set back from the road so there is no trouble with noise.

Ao Nang Phu Pi Maan Resort & Spa $$$/$$$$

The Phu Pi Maan is a beautiful high end resort located in a quiet green environment with no traffic noise. To get to the beach you can either walk for around 10-15 minutes (+/- 1 km) where you’ll find plenty of bars and restaurants along the way or use the free two way hotel shuttle. The room and bathroom are really big and tastefully decorated with a nice traditional Thai touch to it. Amenities are great and include: Air con, 32 inch flat screen TV and balcony which overlook the pool and the huge limestone mountains that characterizes Ao Nang. They don’t serve any alcohol, but have not problems if you stock up your fridge with it.

Blue Village Resort by Chanintra $$/$$$

105 Moo 3, Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand

Blue Village is In a quieter part of Ao Nang, roughly 700 meters to the beach and an easy walk but they also they offer a free two way mini van transportation. The cottage I had was beautiful, nicely decorated and spotless. Even though Blue Village is not exactly a 5 star resorts, Room are very comfortable. The gardens were well maintained and cottages are not directly next to one another so you’ll get a bit of privacy. All rooms, even the Fan ones, have: TV, shower, safe, free Wi-Fi. Good value for money.

Green View Village Resort $/$$/$$$

279 Moo 2 Ao Nang, Thailand

The Green View Village Resort is a tucked back a little bit from the beach and the main bar places but these can be reached in either a 20 mins walk or a few minutes 40 baht by Tuk Tuk ride. The hotel also offers a free shuttle from 9am to 8pm hourly and in my experience there even gave free rides between the hours. The resort surroundings are beautiful and the place is very well maintained. They offer a variety of different styles of accommodation so it’s easy to find one that suits your budget and needs. The most basic are standard fan bungalows in the 20$ range (fan, moskito net, cold shower, but well furnished and clean with a very nice bathroom) to 70$ the Pool Villa room with all the modern amenities.

Harvest House $/$$

420/18-19 Moo 2, Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand

Harvest House is a small hotel of Bed & Breakfast type with an extremely friendly and helpful staff. Great location: Near massage centers, tourist spots, nightlife, local eateries & beach is a 10 minutes walk down the hill. Rooms here are spacious and comfortable with large beds, good air-con, TV (with 50 channels), fridge, safe, hot water & Free high speed Wi-Fi. The only draw backs I can think of is there’s no swimming pool and a little noise from passing traffic but that’s from the location on the main road.

Luna House $/$$

470/7-8 Moo 2, Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand

The Luna house is located a little further away than most of the tourist accommodation in Ao Nang and is around 2KM from the beach. By foot it’ll take you a good 20-25 minutes to get there but a quick tuk-tuk ride will only cost you 20 baht. Facilities at this guest house are clean and in good condition. Each room is equipped with Air-con, Sat-TV, refrigerator, private bathroom, free wifi and a safety deposit box. I liked the bed and had a really good sleep in it which isn’t always true in all guesthouses. Definitely a good option for those on a bit of a budget and who use their public/private transportation or don’t mind the distance to the beach.

Pranang Flora House Hotel $/$$

420/14-15 Moo.2 Aonang Muang, Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand

The Pranang Flora House’s location is a bit up the hill from the center of Ao Nang but access to town is not that big a deal and doable on foot or you can always hire a tuk tuk if you are feeling lazy. Just a short walk from the bars and restaurants & around 10-15 minutes to get to the beach. This is not the most luxurious hotel in Ao nang but rooms are cheap, clean and big enough with all with all modern amenities: Good king size double bed, flat-screen TV, fridge, in-room safe, hot water & free wi-fi. The area isn’t noisy,rooms feel secure and staff friendly. So all in all the price is of very good value.

Srisuksant Resort $$/$$$/$$$$

145 Moo 3, Nopparatthara Beach, Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand

The location of the Srisuksant Resort is in my opinion just excellent, directly across from the more secluded Nopparat Thara Beach. You’ll get to some peace and quiet at night being at the far end of Ao Nang Beach while only a 5 mins walk to main strip of bars and action. Also, boats to the islands for some daytime activities are a mere 10 meters away. The Seabreeze room I got was spacious, bed was comfy, had a lovely bathroom with rainfall shower and pressure shower, proper AC, LCD TV, mini fridge and Free Wi-fi Free that had a great connection. The resort has two pools one with a swim up bar that’s opened from 10 AM.

Swiss Chalet Hotel $

153/6 Moo 3, Ao Nang, Krabi, Thailand

The Swiss Chalet hotel is located a 10 mins walk from Ao Nang Beach and 5 mins to Noppharat Beach. Even cooler it’s less than a 5 mins drive from the jetty, so very handy if you’re coming in by ferry from Phuket. The area is peaceful and the guesthouse is surrounded by luxurious boutique hotels. The room I got was in a really good condition and while basic spacious enough with all the needed facilities: big bed, small fridge, safe, big TV with a few cable channels, closet space, free wi-fi, hot water shower and a balcony. The only negative I can think of was the low water pressure and that the bed was a little hard. Staff is super friendly and speaks a mix of English, German & Thai.

The bar girl friendly hotels stated in this list are all found along Samui’s most popular beaches: Chaweng and Lamai. These are very popular with like minded visitors so you shouldn’t experience too much gawking as you come and go. All offer great value for the money and good service while the rates themselves can greatly vary from budget to 5 star luxury.

Where is the action at?

In Chaweng you will find all you need along the 3KM long beach road. The main concentration is found in Soi Mango, Soi Starbucks and on the way to Chaweng lake. Lamai’s has a lot of it’s girly bars galore along it’s main street in Lamai Variety Center, Soi Macdonald’s, Lamai Night Plaza and Beer Bar Central.

But just what is a guest friendly hotel?

A hotel that is considered guest or bargirl friendly simply means that the joint won’t charge extra for taking back an unregistered guest back up to your room at night. A joiner fee can cost anywhere around 500 to 1000 THB a night but could be even higher depending on the hotel. So if you unknowingly book a non-guest friendly hotel and plan on taking a guest back up to your room everyday for a week then you’re going to be paying a lot more money unnecessarily. This is by no means an indication of their respectability as each hotel has different policies as long as you’re somewhat discreet. Since I am quite new to the Samui scene I had to rely for some establishments on message boards posts. On those I have taken the time to e-mail them a personally to make sure about their policy and have given their reply with the hotel description.

Great for those looking for a bit of privacy in a secluded area approximately 1 KM from the center of Chaweng. Downside: No Free Wi-Fi

The Anantara Lawana Resort & Spa is located at the north end of Chaweng on it’s own private little beach. Away from the crowds but only a 10-15 minutes downhill walk to Chaweng town or a 50 Baht Tuk-Tuk ride. Set upon a hill, the Anantara Lawana Resort grounds are beautiful with 122 individual bungalow/villas of which many have their own pools. I would suggest spending the extra money to stay in one of the pool villas, being able to jump into your own pool is well worth the 10-15% extra. Positive: The infinity pool by the beach is amazing. Downside: Since the resort spreads upon a hill some villas require quite some amount of walking up to reach them.

If you’re in Samui to party, the Ark Bar Beach Resort definitely place to be. Their bar is one of the busiest on the beach and has a great vibe: Pool party with DJ starts at around 2PM and the whole place turns into lively beach club after dawn that goes on late into the night. The rooms are very decent for the price and come with A/C, mini bar, TV/DVD player,safe, free Wi-Fi. The Ark Bar Beach Resort is ideally located close to beach, bars and pretty much anything there is to do in Chaweng. Little tip: On arrival ask for a room far enough from the beach end unless you don’t need sleep before 2-3AM.

Buri Rasa Village Hotel $$$$

The Buri Rasa Village is a fabulous little boutique resort built in authentic thai design located 3/4 down the quieter sourthern part of Chaweng beach or 10-15 minute walking distance to the busy nightlife area. All the rooms have been newly built so they come equipped with the newest amenities. Even their most basic room had a beautifully decorated living room with a big bathroom and balcony. The infinity pool is not big but fine for the size of the resort and when it is only 10 meters walk away from the ocean who really need a big pool? The highlight is the superb service which is most likely why they are currently rated #1 on TripAdvisor. Absolutely recommeded!

The Chalala Samui Resort is located at the quieter northern end of Chaweng beach about 10 to 15 mins walking distance from the nightclub area. Sandwiched between more expensive resorts the place is well ran and very picturesque with a dozen or so bungalows that look a little bit like the Smurfs village. The hotel grounds are kept clean, pool area is nice and their restaurant on the beach was inexpensive with good food. Rooms are basic but for the price great and perfectly functional with proper bed, A/C, TV, fridge, safe, free Wi-Fi and a hot shower.

Chaweng Gardens has a broad range of rooms ranging where the cheapest huts overlook the carpark and get the most noise from town, while those nearer the beach are more private and quieter. My room was a deluxe and offered a fridge, balcony, air conditioning and in-room safe. The hotel is located at one of the busiest stretches of sand in Chaweng.

The outside areas of the hotel grounds need work as it has a bit of a rundown look. Rooms are ok (three types), with a/c, TV (with English channels), fridge, Bathrooms ok, but not more than 2 stars hotel standard (but still with hot&cold water). Friendly staff and clean rooms. Location : 10 seconds away from beach shore, situated in the core of Chaweng, with all it’s pro’s and con’s.

The Coral Bay Resort & Spa is located at the northern end of Chaweng beach about 10-15 mins walking distance from the main strip. The whole place has a quiet and relaxed feel to it with beautiful gardens and nice pool. Beach is OK but not a great place for swimming or watersports due to all the rocks and shallowness at low tide. The bungalows are very spacious in typical thai style with a massive 7 feet bed, day lounger, waterfall shower and big balcony all kept impeccably clean.

The room had modern decor and was extremely clean. The air conditioning worked and there was plenty of hot water. The room had a tv and tea/coffee making facilities and an electronic safe in the wardrobe. Depending on which bungalow you get, the beach is a 2 minutes walk away through a leafy garden and another hotel property. The main street with bars and restaurants is another 2 mins away in the other direction! Despite this, our room was quiet, because the resort is set far back enough from the road.

Room was spacious, and comfortable included a large fridge, a desk area, plenty of room to put your bags, TV with English speaking channels with good reception, a balcony, in-room wifi, and a roomy enough bathroom. Shampoo, soap, and towels are provided. Cleaned everyday. The bathroom was very clean and spacious. It’s a good location in the sense that it’s an easy walk to the beach or nightlife, but the actual street it’s on is run down with no sidewalks.

Montien House Hotel is located on Chaweng beach and right in the middle of the action. Rooms are clean and comfortable although the whole complex could do with a little revamp here and there. The pool isn’t huge but big enough given the size of the resort so you always have free sun-beds whenever needed. Downside: Beach not as it’s best here due to the immediate proximity of the wave breaker so the water can get a bit stagnant at times, Wi-Fi worked properly only near Pool & Restaurant.

The O.P. Bungalow is a beachfront property located only a few minutes walk from Ark bar and Chaweng’s nightlife. The resort offers basic air-conditioned bungalows with TV, fridge, safe, hot shower & balcony, rooms are spotless and cleaned daily. The deluxe bungalows that had I had a peek at were slightly more expensive but had lot more style being newly renovated. The tropical garden settings is also very nice. Downsides: No Free Wi-Fi & Beds a little hard.

Quieter location in South Chaweng, but only 10 minute walk to main bars etc. Has own private beach in front of First Bungalows For the price I paid for the standard room, it was more than what i expected and more than enough. the rooms are very big, has a big bed and big windows, minibar, double bed, working toilet, air-con, shower, TV with over 20 channels. don’t expect any views at this place unless you are paying for the deluxe rooms, but if you’re looking for one of the cheapest and best places to stay at Chaweng then First House is probably the one, especially if you’re able to catch one of Agoda’s deals.

Stayed here for 2 nights and had a room with sea view. In general the hotel was very nice. The rooms were well appointed – nothing super special, but ok value for money. Comfortable, cool enough and mosquito proof. Just a minute walk to get to the beach.. They do charge for WiFi access.. Has very easy access to the main beach road where all the nightlife is located. The place is right on the beach, you can swim in the pool and look out to the ocean.

A highlight of the Beach Republic is it’s fantastic outdoor bar & lounge area with beautiful cabanas and beach chairs where a DJ mixes some great chillout songs. Always rated in the top 5 on tripadvisor.com you can’t go wrong here although it might be a bit expensive for some with it’s 100$+ price tag.

Thai food at their restaurant was good, the setting is pretty and not far from one of the nicest strips of sand on Lamai beach. The resort also has a small pool. Staff are nice but the Swiss owner is one grumpy old fellow at times.

I stayed in a pool view room that had a king size bed, A/C and hot water. The beautiful Lamai beach is about as close as you can put a hotel from it. The restaurant was good for Thai food but i would give the western food a miss. The nearby bar is noisy until two or three in the morning, didn’t bother us too much as were night owls. The location is a compromise between proximity to the beach and distance to the main street in the town – both are fairly short walks, however, this hotel is situated closer to the beach then the town. The walking distance to town isn’t more then 5 minutes at a slow stroll, while the distance to the beach is closer then that. In fact, the hotel’s restaurant is on the beach.

Very quaint clean bungalows and very handy location just seconds away from the main street but also seconds away from the beach too. In a nutshell great across the board with nice clean rooms, beautifully manicured garden settings, excellent pool and bar area, great food and staff .While this resort isn’t the newest in Lamai it is still in my opinion one of the best 4 to 5 star options along the beach.

The Bungalows are very nice and spacious 4-star accommodations with everything clean and tidy inside. Few negatives: Beach is a little rocky be careful if swimming in rough weather. Wi-fi was weak at times in the room but OK in public areas.

Rooms, which I would describe as 4-star are very modern and clean with some Thai style mixed in them. Positive: Beds are for once very comfortable. Negative: TV only had but just a few English speaking channels.

Just came back from Samui where I spent 4 days at Samui Laguna. Location is great, very quiet at the beginning of Lamai Beach, beautiful water and nice sand. You can walk to Lamai with many restaurants, bars and shopping within 5 minutes. They offer Bungalows and rooms in the main building. All rooms have been renovated recently. My bungalow was very nice, modern and appealing.

The Samui Beach Resort is a great little place for budget travelers situated at the southern end the Lamai beach next to the grandfather and grandmother rock. The resort is well maintained and has a pool with sunbeds, not the biggest but clean and nice to have, free sunbeds are also available on the beach. The fan rooms are cheap but very basic with just the shower and Wi-Fi access. Unless you are on a very strict budget I suggest the A/C Rooms for a bit more space and comfort (flat-screen TV, fridge, coffee/tea making facilities, balcony). Positives: Beachfront location, price, clean rooms. Negatives: Food at their restaurant & Wi-Fi unreliable in room at times.

Samui Seabreeze Place $$

124/446 Moo 3, T Maret, Lamai Beach, Lamai, Samui

The Samui Seabreeze Place is located just across the road leading to the beach and 2-3 minutes walk from Hat Lamai road and it’s nightlife. The resort is made up of two distinct parts: You have oldish type bungalows on the beach side and a newly build three story high building with around 15-20 rooms on the road side. The rooms in the newer part are spacious and clean equipped with good bedding, A/C, TV, fridge, safe, free wi-fi and balcony overlooking the pool. They also have their own restaurant right on the beach where the free breakfast is served. For a hotel at this price range it’s not a bad deal.

The Samui Sense Beach Resort is located right on the beach in a fairly quiet area yet everything is in walking distance from it: Pubs, bars, food. The hotel which is a totally revamped version of the former Galaxy Resort is rather small in size but it’s grounds are very well manicured and the pool area is nice. The rooms are big and clean with proper A\C units and a big comfy beds. Their beachfront bar & restaurant serves good food but is a little expensive, staff is extremely helpful.

Sand Sea Resort & Spa $$/$$$/$$$$

The Sand Sea Resort & Spa is located along the quieter northern side of Lamai beach which is divided in two by a small stream inlet just next to the it. The resort is pretty and feels secluded, has a nice little pool, bar and restaurant and best of all is right on the beach. Rooms are good and cleaned daily. The superior and deluxe rooms offer a bathtub instead of just a shower of the smaller standard ones and if money is no issue you can have as look at their pool villas right on the beach with a large private pool, Jacuzzi and modern equipment. Downside: When walking on the backside of the resort there were some swampy smell coming from a drain and creek nearby but gladly it didn’t reach our room, restaurant or the beach.

Seaview Paradise Hotel $$/$$$/$$$$

The Seaview Paradise Beach and Mountain Holiday Villas Resort is made up of two distinct parts offering either spacious modern villas right on the beach or mountainside apartments with 1 or 2 bedrooms and spectacular views. The beachfront villas, over 75 square meters area each, are the most expensive and come with two bedrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room and large outdoor balcony with deck chairs. The hilltop villas offer similar comfort but they also have a cheaper 1-bedrooms apartments on a lower level in the 50$ range that is great value for money, it’s smaller at 30 square meters but they still offer good views over Lamai from the large balcony and the infinity pool on the highest level is incredible!

The Varinda Garden Resort is a peaceful property perched on a hilltop overlooking the sea surrounded by tropical gardens about 5-10 mins walk to Lamai town & beach. They have a nice Infinity pool, restaurant and bar with a lot of lounging areas with chairs, cabanas and hammocks. The bungalows have their own balcony with table & chairs which are surrounded with thick shrubbery making it very intimate and private from each other, never heard anything coming from neighbors. Rooms are spacious and properly equipped with big beds, fridge, cable TV, safe, coffee, separate shower and tub, coffee/tea maker and lots of seating areas. Negatives: Bad in room Wi-Fi reception (OK at or near plublic areas), hard beds.

When you think you might want to bring back a guest back with you to your room, it is essential that you choose the proper accommodation before arriving in Chiang Mai. The following hotels stated in my list are all known for being guest friendly / girl friendly / bargirl friendly so you won’t experience any hassles refusals or joiners fee when bringing back a companion with you.

Your best bet while in Chiang Mai is to hit the Chiang Mai Entertainment Center about 200 meters west of Chanklan road. It features around 30 bars with pool tables, loud music and pretty girls with on average 3 to 4 girls working in each bar. On most nights the total complex has about 80 bargirls and about 20 bar patrons. There is a Thai boxing exhibition at 9.00 and a ladyboy cabaret at 11.00 every night.

The entrance lobby is palacious and impressive with high ceilings and marble and comfy chairs. The rooms are large and clean although rather a bit worn out as the furnishings are relatively old.

Buarawong Residence $

Situated a few hundred meters from the heart of the Night Bazaar (Chiang Mai shopping and entertainment area) This property caters predominantly to the local Thai market. It is a spotless hotel with spacious rooms and offers free buffet breakfast. Good place to stay if you’re on a budget.

Diamond Riverside Hotel $/$$

33/10 Charoenprated Road, Changklan, Muang, Riverside, Chiang Mai

Nice hotel with a good pool and plenty of facilities to match the big hotels. Its well located, and just opposite the Porn Ping hotel, on the other side of Charoen Prathet Road. Rooms are nice and clean with breakfast included for around 700 – 900 baht.

Hotel M Chiang Mai $$

My second stay at the Montri, and the rooms are currently being upgraded. It is clean, safe, Guest Friendly and reasonably priced (the room rate includes breakfast). The Montri is directly across from the Thapae Gate in the old city of Chiang Mai.

The Manathai Village is a small boutique hotel with an upscale looking albeit smallish pool and great gardens. Room had a comfortable king bed, nice linens, soft towels, and great air conditioning. The bathroom was clean, functional, spacious, and well stocked with upscale bath amenities.

he hotel itself needs a bit of a refurbishment as it seems to be stuck in a time warp – but that doesn’t mean its not a good place to stay and the rates are pretty reasonable. The reception are efficient and the rooms cleaned impeccably every day.

Raming Lodge Hotel $$/$$$

17-19 Loikroh.rd. T. Chanag Klan A. Muang, Night Bazaar, Chiang Mai

Raming Lodge is located in the center of Chiang Mai, surrounded by restaurants and bars, and in walking distance of the Night Market. Those who like nightlife will love it! Excellent service, friendly staff, nice room, tour desk near the reception, good restaurant and breakfast. Complimentary minibar, coffee, fruit selection, WiFi. Very good value for money.

Good hotel with nice pool area directly in the heart of the city. Rooms simple, but clean. Paid just over 1000bht for Superior Room which was quite spacious and rather nice for the amount of dosh I handed over.

The Phuket hotels stated in this list are all located on either in Patong, Karon and Kata beach. All offer great value for the money and good service while the rates themselves can greatly vary from budget to 5 star luxury.

But just what is a guest friendly hotel?

A hotel that is considered guest or bargirl friendly simply means that the hotel will not charge extra for taking back an unregistered guest to your room. Bear in mind that not all hotels in Phuket have an open policy that will allow you to bring back an unregistered guest to your room. Some do outright refuse while others will smack you with a joiner fee can costs anywhere from 500+ THB a night or more depending on the hotel. So if you unknowingly book a non-guest friendly hotel and plan on taking a guest back up to your room every night for a week then you’re going to be paying a lot more money unnecessarily. I’ve taken the trouble of making a list of which ones are ok, and allow whoever you want to accompany you to your room. This is by no means an indication of their respectability as each hotel has different policies as long as you’re discreet.

The Acca Patong is a new hotel conveniently located at the end of Soi Sansabai just opposite to Phuket’s nightlife center: Bangla Road. Rooms are clean and come with all the expected amenities: Comfy bed, air-conditioning, 32 inch LCD TV, mini fridge, Free Wi-Fi, in room safe, etc.

PROS: Location, new property, Free Wi-Fi, Friendly staff.

CONS: Rooms on street side can be noisy so try to get one a few floors up or on the opposite side.

The Alfresco is a new and modern hotel located a little far off from where all the action with Bangla Road and the beach a good 15 to 20 minutes walk away. They do provide a free tuk tuk services up to 5 pm. Regarding the rooms, what you see on their booking website is what you will get: Clean, comfy and very modernly designed rooms. For the price and facilities all I can say is it is quite good especially with the 40-50% off flash deals running on Agoda.

PROS: Very modern design, nice infinity pool on the roof, great Wi-Fi connection, TV with loads of channels.

CONS: Distance from Bangla Rd & beach, Free tuk-tuk stops at 5PM.

Rooms at the Amata Resort are modern and spacious with all the expected facilities (Great air-con, free Wi-Fi, mini-bar, in room safe, TV, etc. ) and while it’s an easy walk to everything you could possible want (5-10 minutes to Bangla road or 10-15 to the Patong beach) it remains tucked in a quiet location for a good night’s sleep. The Amata also has two pools of which the roof top one is particularly attractive since it offers some great 360˚ panoramic view of Patong and has a bar where you can enjoy a few beers and a meal. Overall good value for money!

Cheap hotel, near center and beach, comfortable, clean, with a swimming pool and sauna, good restaurant, Italian manager is friendly, very good free internet, discreet and private in the night with seven eleven and money change just outside.

Apsara Residence $$/$$$/$$$$

79/11-12 Soi San Sa Bai, Patong, Phuket

For those who like nightlife the Apsara Residence is in the ideal location only a few minutes walk to Bangla Road or Jungceylon Mall and 5 to 10 mins to Patong beach. Room was very clean and modern with a good bed to sleep on though a little small since all they had left when I went there were twin rooms. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning up the mess I left every day. Staff and Belgian owner were very friendly as well.

PROS: Very close to everything, quick Wi-Fi in room (up to 30 mbps !), Nice rooms.

CONS: Room facing the street can be a bit noisy due to location. no elevator.

The Arimana Hotel is tucked in the back of Patong about 5 minutes walk from Jungceylon, 10 mins from Bangla road and 15 to the beach. The rooms are rather on the small size but clean and equipped with all the basic amenities expected: A/C, TV, Wi-Fi. Pretty decent considering the 1300 Baht I paid for it in high season but nothing special neither.

PROS: Quiet at night, nice little pool, good housecleaning.

CONS: Shower water not always very hot.

Simply put with prices in the 800-1500 Baht range depending on the season, the Arya Boutique Room is one of the best value for money hotels in Patong. So if you are on a budget and looking for a clean, comfortable and cheap room with all the basic amenities within walking distance of the beach (15 mins) and Bangla road (10 mins), this should be an easy choice.

PROS: Value outweighs the price, Free Wi-Fi, good air-con, clean rooms, comfy beds.

CONS: No elevator.

Asialoop Guest House $/$$

2-17/20 Sirirat Road, Patong, Phuket

The AsiaLoop is a nice little guest house located a bit out of the way from Patong’s center (15 minutes walk from beach and 20-25 from Bangla road) but perfect if you are looking for somewhere peaceful and quiet to sleep at night. Their superior rooms are large, clean and modern with everything you need: Double bed, TV, air-con, fridge, balcony, modern bathroom with hot shower, etc. The economy rooms on the other hand while well furnished for the price can be a bit claustrophobic as they don’t have any windows or balcony. The AsiaLoop has a rooftop swimming pool which is a cool place to hang with a beer after a long day at the beach. The only negative point is they have no elevator in this 5 floor building. Otherwise a good deal while in Phuket!

5/41-51 Patong Beach Road, Patong, Phuket

The location of the Aspery Hotel is good with Patong beach just around the corner and Bangla Road a few streets away (10 mins walk max). The rooms are clean, modern and have a little balcony. Only two downsides I can think of is that the bed is a little hard and the water in the shower had but two temperature: Too cold or too hot. Other than that of very good value for the price!

PROS: Good value, clean rooms, nice little pool on the rooftop

CONS: Found the bed a little hard, water temperature hard to manage.

The Boomerang Inn is a very short walk from Patong beach and about 10 to 15 minutes to Bangla Road. Rooms are cleaned everyday, beds comfy, flat screen TV has a good range of channels, A/C cools quickly, balcony, fridge, free Wi-Fi, etc. in short all the basics are covered here.

PROS: Clean & Everything works, staff is friendly and english speaking.

CONS: No in-room safe, thin walls, The furniture is a bit old.

Casa Jip Guesthouse $/$$

The Casa Jip Guesthouse is pretty well located in Patong with Bangla Road less than 10 minutes walk away and only 5 more from there onto the Beach. If you are looking for a clean, cheap and friendly guest house this is a great option in Phuket. They offer big rooms with queen-sized beds, TV with plenty of channels, air-con, free high speed Wi-Fi, minibar with very decent prices and hot water every time you take your shower. The downsides is like with many other guesthouses there is no elevator so if you end up with a room on the 5th floor that’s going to be a lot of stairs to climb stairs before you get to your room. In the end, a good combination of value of money and location.

Nanai Road 247/1-8 Kathu, Patong

Stayed here once for four nights, the stay was comfortable, staff was friendly, room was very comfortable with a big bed & lovely bathroom, free wifi was not that good though. Located 15 minutes walking distance from beach but has a free shuttle service from 9am to 11 pm that was good.

The Coconut Village Resort is ideally located only 200 meters from the best side of Patong beach while remaining just far away enough to be quiet at night. Bangla Road is a 15-20 mins walk away. Room are very spacious and are of a good standard with a large bathroom that has a separate bath and shower. The pool area is lovely to hang around.

PROS: Location, nice rooms, nice deep swimming pool (2.7m), friendly staff, very clean, quiet.

CONS: Had to pay for internet and was expensive, no in room safe only at reception, a bit far from Bangla Road.

The Duangjitt Resort is a large and peaceful oasis of calm (36 acres site) located just up the street from the southern end of Patong Beach. This is a very upscale hotel set among in 36 acres of beautiful lush gardens with several fantastic swimming pools. Rooms are cosy and of very high standard with all the amenities expected of a four to five-star hotel.

PROS: Location, amazing pools, awesome gardens, great rooms, friendly staff, great rooms, very clean, quiet, nice buffet breakfast.

CONS: The Wi-Fi which the resort charges an exorbitant 1500 baht/day (30USD) is slow and has frequent dropouts.

The Forest Patong Hotel is a new property located on the north and starting point of Patong city. Not for those who need to be in the middle of the party scene or alongside the beach as it’s a 20 to 25 minutes walk to reach either. But, if you plan on renting a scooter or don’t mind paying the 50-60 Baht for a motorbike taxi you can very easily get anywhere in Patong within 10 mins. Where the Forest Patong really shines is with the type of accommodation you get for the price. The rooms often go for just around 800/1000 Baht on Agoda and are really big on amenities. The superior room had a 42-inch Plasma TV with DVD, your own personal desktop computer, Free Wi-Fi, large sofa, mini-bar, hot shower/bath with good water pressure, balcony, etc. So for the price the Forest Patong hotel hard beat!

PROS: Great facilities at budget prices, Free Wifi & computer, 42-inch TV, new property.

CONS: Far from the beach and nightlife.

Located in Kalim Bay, the IndoChine Resort is best suited for those who want to keep at a distance from the madness of Patong. Since you need somewhere in between 30 to 45 minutes walk to get to Patong it’s recommended you rent out your own motorbike if you plan to stay here or accept paying the taxi mafia 300 Baht ride each way. Rooms look nice both inside and out and the villas have their own private pools or Jacuzzi. The views of Patong and the Andaman Sea from here are simply stunning!

PROS: View is amazing, very quiet, rooms with pool or Jacuzzi.

CONS: No free shuttle service, distance from Patong.

The Nap is located only 2-3 minutes from the beach and a bit further off from Bangla Road that can still be reached in an easy 10 mins walk.

PROS: Free mini bar re-stocked daily, modern and clean rooms, very comfortable bed, large balcony with decent views, free hi speed Wi-Fi .

CONS: Not cheap, swimming pool isn’t very large.

Location is 5 minutes from the beach and around 10 to Bangla road. Great Value budget hotel in Patong!

Rooms are nice and big in this new hotel and have good beds, cold & quiet A/C units, satellite TV, mini bar, safety box, Wi-Fi and balcony.

CONS: Outside of Patong, Some staff speak poor english.

The apartments are very spacious and furnished with all you need to feel at home. Facilities include a swiming pool with great views, restautant, jacuzi, sauna and fitness center.

Rooms are clean and spacious with everything you need: TV, fridge, A/C unit & Wi-Fi work great, in room safe, bathroom have a separate shower and toilet.

The See Sea Phuket is located in peaceful Kalim bay a good 20 to 30 minutes walk from Patong and would suit better those who are looking for a quiet place to retreat after a night out. While the See Sea looks like your average 3-star hotel from the outside, the rooms feel like 5-star from the inside. I would recommend to spend the extra 15 to 20$ to get one of their suites with an outdoor Jacuzzi as they are really luxurious and well worth the extra over the studio rooms.

The SoleLuna is located on the edge of Patong and while you can reach the beach in just about 10 minutes Bangla Road is a good 20 minutes away or more if your stumbling home drunk at night. The hotel was inaugurated in 2010 so the rooms are new and clean equipped with A/C unit + fan, cable TV, mini-bar, free Wi-Fi and private balcony. Good value if you don’t mind the distance.

The rooms are medium to small in size but are very comfortable with all modern amenities: big bed, A/C, in room safe & WiFi, balcony, mini bar, proper sized TV with 100 channels.

PROS: Perfect location quiet but near the action, fast in room wifi, clean & modern facilities.

CONS: In some rooms the view is non existent as the window directly faces the opposite building wall meters away.

The biggest surprise was they provide an Apple Mac Mini hooked up to the flat-screen TV with free access to the internet, Wi-fi is also available for your own portable devices.

The Beshert Guesthouse is ideally located as whether heading to the beach, bars or restaurants you are never more than 5 minutes away from anything. For 500 to 1100 Baht (depending on the season) you can expect large and clean rooms a with good en-suite “wet rooms” and toilet facilites, air-con, fridge, safe, cable TV & DVD player (with a large selection of movies which you can borrow for free) and in room Wi-Fi. Overall a very pleasant place to stay and great value for money.

The location of the Karon Cliff Contemporary Boutique Bungalows is its greatest advantage. Set on the slopes of Karon you have great views of the beach and Andaman sea below. Access to the beach is easy all you need to do is follow the stairs leading down to a quiet part of the beach and from there on it’s only a 10 to 15 minutes walk to the center of Karon where all the restaurants and bars are. Otherwise don’t expect a 5-star hotel. Calling it boutique is already far fetched but you do get clean rooms of decent size with all the basic amenities.

PROS: Views, peaceful & tranquil resort.

CONS: Entry level rooms are bare and basic.

The rooms at the Karon Hillside Hotel are divided up into two sections. A newer and more modern garden wing with really nice rooms VS the original main wing with older ones. Both are of good quality rooms with all the expected amenities but for the small bump in price I’d strongly suggest booking the Superior over the Standard. The downside for many is it’s location, a good 15 minutes walk from the beach.

PROS: Grounds, pool & bar, staff, food.

CONS: 15 minutes walk to the beach or 10 minutes to Karon circle.

The Pineapple Guesthouse is a great option for those looking to save up as much money as they can on accomodations while retaining some level of comfort. Depending the season, the price varies from 500 to 1000 THB and for that amount you can expect clean rooms of decent size with: Big beds, TV, A/C, fridge with 2 bottles of water every day, safe, hot shower and good Wi-Fi. It’s only a 5 minutes walk to the Karon beach or 20 minutes if you want to go all the way to Kata beach. While unspectacular, the rooms are of good value for money all year round.

The Sunset Plaza is a condo complex located up a steep hill from which you get to enjoy some stunning views of Karon beach. The apartments are very spacious and modernly furnished with a cozy and pleasant living room, complete kitchenette with cooking utensils and comfy average sized bedroom with flatscreen-TV. The complex has two swimming pools, one of which overlooks out town and Andaman sea. While there is no bar or restaurant on location you can find them just 2-3 minutes walk away. Getting to the beach takes 5 to 10 minutes on foot.

PROS: Big modern rooms, Great sea view of Karon Beach, great pool area with sun beds.

CONS: No bar or restaurant, up a very steep hill, Wi-Fi is charged 200 THB/day.

A great little guesthouse for those who don’t want to spend too much on accommodations while in Kata. Rooms are clean and comfortable, bathroom was also nice, Air-Con works perfectly and the WiFi was Signal good. The best part is that its within walking distance from both Kata beach (±5 minutes) & Karon Beach (±10 minutes).

The Asparia hotel is a beautiful and intimate hotel perched on top of a hill with some terrific panoramic views of the ocean and Kata Beach. The rooms are over-sized and of high standard especially the suite (145 square meters!) which is worth the extra 50$ (IMHO) for all it has to offer. For that you get your own kitchen, dining room, living room, a big bathroom with Jacuzzi and last but not least a really huge bedroom with large bed, TV, desk, etc.

The Be My Guest Boutique Hotel is located at the nortern tip of Kata just 300 meters from the beach and about a 5-10 minutes walk from Karon beach. While this is not a boutique hotel like their name would like to make it sound the rooms are spacious and clean room with a private balcony, TV with a good range of channels, A/C unit (a little noisy at times), fridge, fast WiFi (free) and a safety box. They do not have pool but for the price it’s a good deak in Kata.

The BluEco Hotel brand new and very clean where the furnishings are modern and the rooms spacious. The bathroom is a bit on the smaller side but there was always plenty of hot water for the shower. Downsides I found are that the bed is a little hard and there is no in room Wi-Fi (only in the lobby). Located a street back from the main road it’s a 10 mins walk to Kata beach or 15 mins to Karon beach. While not exactly a luxury resort for a 3 stars at that price I would say it’s good value. Recommended!

The Boathouse hotel has one of the best location in Kata and no matter which one of the 56 rooms you are in the lovely beach lays right outside of your door! Free sunbeds are available and the attentive staff make sure you have everything you need throughout your stay. The beach beach bar and restaurant are one of the highlights here. While the rooms are not especially spacious they are very well furnished and comfortable. You even have your own personal espresso coffee machine. Not cheap but highly recommended for its atmosphere.

The Capannina Inn isn’t situated right on Kata beach but a 10 minutes walk will get you there and since it’s located near the northern end of Kata you can also easily get to Karon beach in 15 minutes max. Room are clean and equipped with A/C unit, flat-screen TV (with a decent number of channels), free Wi-Fi, Illy expresso/cappuccino maker, large bathroom with a walk in shower and a balcony with two chairs and a table. The Casa E Mare hotel is located on the Southern end of Kata up 300 meters from the main road so you have access to both Kata & Kata Noi beaches within 10-15 minutes walk. The hotel is approximately 5 years old so it’s so is pretty new & modern. Rooms have large beds, TV, A/C, fridge, free Wi-Fi, safe, western bathroom (not just a wet room but a proper separate shower with glass doors) and balcony. For the 1000 – 1500THB range it’s in, the price is very decent. Recommended!

Dome Resort $$/$$$

The Standard fan rooms (picture above) at the Dome Resort were a bit of a letdown with dated rooms and old furniture. Might be acceptable for 600 THB range but otherwise I would recommend the A/C or deluxe ones which are much better if you can get any of those at a decent price in the 1000-1500 THB range. Location is 10-15 minutes from Kata Beach.

Honey Resort $$/$$$/$$$$

The Honey Resort is a nice clean little hotel tucked in a quiet and peaceful area so you don’t get much of any street noise. Rooms are modern and well furnished, comfy bed, air-con unit is efficient and quiet, ±70 channels on the flat-screen TV, the walls are thick, good shower and plenty of storage for clothes. They have a pool with a unique design that is perhaps 2 meters wide but runs the entire length of the front of the hotel. Located a 5-10 minutes walk from either the center or Kata beach. Downsides is there is no free in-room Wi-Fi (200 THB/day or 600 THB/week though accessible for free in the lobby.

The Kata Blue Sea Resort is located in a very modern area of Kata surrounded by new buildings. Only a 5-10 minutes walk to Kata beach & all the bars and restaurants of it’s centre. Rooms are comfortable and of decent size with A/C, flat-screen TV, safe, good shower, balcony (some with view other just a metal fence). They offfer good service with daily linen change, free breakfast & a nice little pool area. The surroundings are clean and quiet. The one downsides is they charge 100 baht a day for the Wi-Fi.

The Kata Lucky Villas aren’t the least expensive property in the Kata area, but was worth paying a little more to enjoy the direct pool access some of their rooms have. I loved the fact we could have a dip stright from on our patio area. The rooms are great, spotless clean and very modern with comfortable bed and furnishings. Location also good, just a 5 minutes walk from Kata Noi beach while the road is littered with lovely restaurants & bars the way there. Downsides: No free Wi-Fi, disappointing considering the price of the room! They do sell Wi-Fi vouchers at the reception for 50 THB/ hour.

The Kata Resort is located 1KM away from the beach (15-20 minutes walk) which is a bit further that most hotels in Kata but nothing really excessive. Formerly known as The Little Mermaid Resort, this hotel had been in serious decline over the past years but new management has taken over in June 2012 and have started some much needed renovations. Rooms are generally large and clean, fridge works perfectly, Wi-fi too, new A/C units have been since installed but the installations are still pretty dated and the water pressure low. However the new management is working on the problems so over time it should greatly improve…

The Manohra Cozy Village is a small resort with just 12 rooms tucked in a quiet back street on the northern portion of Kata where both Karon and Kata beach are within 10 minutes walk. Both the Standard & Superior rooms are nice and spacious. Both seem to have been renovated recently and come with good beds, Flat screen TV’s, air-conditioning, minibar, safety box, Wi-fi. The Superior rooms are bigger and poolside. This place made TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice 2013 for the Top 25 Bargain Hotels in Thailand so I Highly Recommended it!

The Southern Fried Rice Guesthouse is located in a quiet side street just 5 minutes walk from Kata beach, 10-15 min to Karon Beach & around 30 minutes to Kata Noi further south. The rooms (only 8 in total) are very spacious and well lit by large windows. The bed was comfy, A/C unit works just fine, TV has a few English channels, mini bar, very good wifi connection ,in room safe, hot shower with proper water pressure and free continental breakfast. The staff and owner Terje are super friendly and always helpful with guidance, good deals on taxi and tours/ferry transfer.

The girl friendly hotels stated in this list are all found in Pattaya and are very popular with like minded visitors. All offer great value for the money and good service while the rates themselves can greatly vary from budget to 5 star luxury.

But just what is a guest friendly hotel?

A hotel that is considered guest or bargirl friendly simply means that the hotel will not charge extra for taking back an unregistered guest to your room. Bear in mind that not all hotels in Pattaya have an open policy that will allow you to bring back an unregistered guest to your room. Some do outright refuse while others will smack you with a joiner fee can costs anywhere from 500 THB a night or more depending on the hotel. So if you unknowingly book a non-guest friendly hotel and plan on taking a guest back up to your room every night for a week then you’re going to be paying a lot more money unnecessarily. I’ve taken the trouble of making a list of which ones are ok, and allow whoever you want to accompany you to your room. This is by no means an indication of their respectability as each hotel has different policies as long as you’re discreet.

But just what is a guest friendly hotel?

A hotel that is considered guest or bargirl friendly simply means that the hotel will not charge extra for taking back an unregistered guest back to your rooms. A joiner fee can cost anywhere around 500THB a night but could be higher depending on the hotel. So if you unknowingly book a non-guest friendly hotel and plan on taking a guest back up to your room every night for a week then you’re going to be paying a lot more money unnecessarily. This is by no means an indication of their respectability as each hotel has different policies as long as you’re discreet.

Also included is a washing machine, a microwave, plates, gas stove, fridge, cutlery and cooking utensils. They are fitted with a king size bed. Bathrooms have a separate bathtub and shower. Excellent for wanting to experience a home away from home feel.

The hotel is located off the main roads making it nice and quiet near Soi Cowboy. The room quality is nice, modern and comfortable, with flat screen TV’s, DVD and Kitchenette with large fridge and excellent air conditioning. The beds were very comfortable and large and the bathrooms were very good., free wifi is available in the rooms and is fairly fast.

I stayed here for about 2 weeks. The apartments are very large, well maintained, and comes with 2 large TVs + DVD, fridge, dining table, kitchenette, working desk and chair where you can work *caugh caugh* + large closet space & sofa in the living room. The apartment was very clean and quiet. The only noise was from the air-condition, which you had to always leave on, since the windows cannot be opened.
Buffet breakfast was included in the price, and was very good: eggs, bacon, ham, toast, coffee, fruit juices, vegetables, fried potatoes, and some fruit The Internet was fast enough for normal use. Cable was ok, not much to see but that usually the case in Thailand. They have a free tuk-tuk ride to the main road (Sukhumvit) every 15 minutes, although you can walk, which takes about 6-7 minutes to get there.

The Centre Point Sukhumvit Apartments, Bangkok is in a quiet area of Sukhumvit, just 5 minutes walk from Nana or Asoke Skytrain Stations. The studios and the one bedroom suites I’ve stayed in are all beautifully designed and contemporary in styling. I’ve happily used the well-thought-out kitchenettes and the in-room washer-dryer. Of course the in-room complimentary wifi ought to be a standard in all good hotels (but sadly isn’t). Needless to say, the rooms have all been spotlessly clean. The facilities floor is great, with a nice big pool that you can actually exercise in and a well-equipped gym. The breakfast buffet is big with plenty of interesting Asian dishes and eggs cooked-to-order, not to mention good freshly-brewed coffee which is not always the case in Thailand.

Not far from the hustle and bustle of Sukhumvit road, but not so close as to be annoyed and pestered by touts, taxis, noise and traffic. The deluxe room is spacious and thoughtfully designed; stylishly cool and calm. A genuine queen size bed, a huge lcd TV, classy bathroom and big window make the room a very good place to stay and escape the heat and madness. I recommend using the motorcycle taxis to get to nearby stations Asoke and Sukhumvit or the start of soi 11 and 13. The fare is less than 30baht. A taxi for 2 makes sense also – 40 baht to Asoke. The amenities are cool too – wireless Internet access, a gym, the Chic Cafe, and a rooftop swimming pool that allows you to get wet and check out exciting Bangkok at the same time.

Not a plush hotel; basic rooms, tough adequate size are really nice, cozy, clean & maintained with perfection. Superb service from staff. Ideal for solo traveler. No coffee in room but everything else you need, including a room safe. The price is around 1300 baht. I recommend this hotel for budget travelers, who want to be close by the entertainment. Although its on sukhumvit, you hardly hear the noise of the traffic in the rooms.

The hotel is small and set back from Sukhumvit, across the street from a park. The hotel is nothing fancy, but staff was friendly and the room was large and quiet. The bed was good with clean sheets and a fluffy comforter. The air conditioning worked very well and the bathroom was spacious and functional. The hotel has 6-7 stories and probably 4-5 rooms per floor. Please note that there is no elevator so be prepared to climb stairs. The bed was good and firm. The location is great.

Clean rooms, quiet, attentive and friendly staff, good food (24hr room service with no extra charge, same price in the lobby restaurant as it is delivered to your room), very cool contemporary design and location. I usually stay in the sister Hotel Dynasty Inn Grande round the corner. However this is slightly more expensive so decided to try the newer, cheaper Dawin. The differences were a slightly smaller bathroom and bedroom and were hardly noticeable. Very clean and the staff were very helpful. Nana plaza is two minutes down the road Soi cowboy 15 minutes walking, German beer garden 7 minutes walk Gulliver’s is a 7 minute walk.

Tucked away in a side street a few hundred yards from the Sukhumvit Road, and I’m guessing that if it had main road presence and profile the price would be considerably higher. That being said the skytrain is within a few minutes walk, and all the various attractions area are easily reachable. The hotel itself is really very smart, rooms come with nice large LCD TV and lighting, very comfortable bed and sheets.. and efficient and attentive staff. It reminded me very much of the W group of hotels, but at a budget price.cool rooms really 5 star experience at 4 star prices.

The hotel situated on the Sukumvit, Soi 6 off Nana Thai. This is a very central location for all the night life situated in Nana plaza and around this part of Sukumvit. This hotel has large rooms and spacious bathroom, with a nice comfortable bed. On the third floor is situated a reasonable size swimming pool. The 7-11 shop next door is very convenient if you need some stuff to stock up the fridge with a few extra beers. A pleasant hotel with friendly staff and good value for the price. The rooms have cable TV but with a somewhat limited collection of channels. If you are into watching TV there is a DVD player in the room, so you could bring in something you bought on Sukumvit, where there are plenty of street sellers.

The room was huge! and had a separate kitchen area. What i liked about the kitchen area was that it was placed in such a way that it was almost like a separate room in your room, so you didn’t actually see it if you didn’t want to go in there. The sleeping area was massive with a sofa and small dining table as well. I had an amazing view of the city (i was on the 34th floor) Room had a nice 30 inch plasma screen a dvd player/music system.

If you are looking for a fantastic hotel in the 100+ USD range I don’t think there is any hotel which will come close to the Grand Millennium. Its ultra modern and had a great boutique feel overall. Furnishings are warm and the service is excellent. You are welcomed like royalty, with a complementary jet lag massage as a greeting. The rooms were superb and clean and very modern. The location was within easy walking distance of the skytrain and subway. The foyer and facilities were very modern.

Rooms here are quite big and really well maintained that are laid out as a whole apartment: a bedroom, a bathroom and a living room. Everything was very clean. Great location for tourists who like to travel by BTS or foot. The station is just 1 min walking distance from BTS. I like this hotel compared to others in the Sukhumvit area as it placed along a small alley instead of the bustling main road.

he hotel itself is modern and has a feel of class about it. Our room was clean, comfortable and modern and on the 24th floor (of 25) and afforded some suberb city views. The Nana Hotel is basic, make no bones about it! But, if you are visiting the city for the after dark delights, you couldn’t find a better place to stay!! Bed is big and comfortable, the room has a/c, a shower and a toilet, it was clean, do you really need anything else?? Oh, the complimentary water in a huge fridge is welcomed and the TV has plenty of sports channels but would have liked a music channel too. The pool area on the 3rd floor is good enough to sleep off the effects of the night before and has pool service, just look for the guys in yellow polo shirts. Guest friendly with the welcome addition of security at the lifts, Nana Plaza is honestly staggering distance from the foyer, perfect!! Every night, starting around 9pm you’ll find dozens of freelance ladies outside the Nana Hotel parking lot. Nana Plaza is just right across the street. Though the rooms at his hotel are old, Nana’s value and location can’t be beat.

Rooms are large and very well fitted with extensive closets, drawers, etc. Good quality furnishings. High speed DSL including your own wireless router was very handy. Apartments are spacious, clean and very comfortable, the security was first class with a safe in the room and a guard operated door to the elevators. The in-house gym and pool were a big plus, although the pool is too small for serious swimming.

The hotel is very clean. Decor is modern, The rooms were spacious. You couldn’t ask for a better location downtown. If you fall out of the front door of the cafe, you land in Nana station. Staff was super helpful and friendly.

The rooms are small, but smartly laid out. There is a 32″ LCD TV, electronic safe, A/C, Excellent bed with luxurious sheets, bar fridge, coffee maker, beautiful bathroom with Spanish head shower and great TV and selection of channels. The hotel is in great location within 5min walk to 2 skytrain stops and one subway stop. It’s in a little street so it is also very quiet at night. The staff is extremely friendly, even though their English is a little weak they are super helpful. Only downfall is the free Wifi is weak in rooms but in the lobby it’s perfect.

Just off of the noisy congested Soi 4 but close enough to all the eateries, nightlife, clubs and pubs. I booked the 1 bedroom executive suite and was very impressed with the accommodations. The room was very spacious, had a kitchenette with tile flooring, refrigerator, microwave and settings for two. The separate living area had its own LCD TV and DVD/CD player along with satellite channels. The in room wireless Internet signal is strong and there are two Internet computers in the lobby for residents to use. The air-con always blew cool and if I wanted to make it snow in the room I’m sure the system would do it.

The maximum persons allow to stay over night in the room is 2 persons. So, if you have only 1 visitor stay with you is fine. But if the number of persons stay over night is more than 2 persons, we will charge for the 3rd person, 900 baht per 1 night. (short time visit is okay, no charge)

In case of if you wish to let your visitor having breakfast with you in our restaurant. You must register your visitor as your accompanian. Else, we have right to refuse breakfast serve for your visitor. However, every visitors, her/his ID card is required for security reason.

This hotel has got excellent location on Soi 11 and very near to Nana Station. Service as excellent. Room was really big, and very well laid out. bathroom was also very large. The room had it’s own wifi router, so the free Internet in the room had excellent signal strength, and was able to make Skype calls etc with perfect ease.

President Solitaire has a great location in Soi 11 Sukhumvit. Rooms are excellent, very large and spacious and well furnished. The staff are always competent and attentive. The hotel facilities are convenient and of good standard. It is nice to relax in a sofa at the end of a busy day. Having complimentary WiFi is an excellent bonus. The tuk-tuk to the beginning of Soi 11 is a wonderful service with a touch of convenience. Though location of hotel is a 10-minute walk from the main road, it nestles away from the bustling noise of Sukhumvit to a quiet night’s sleep.

The Royal Asia Lodge rooms are comfortable with cable TV and air con and refrigerator. They offer a pretty good breakfast with real coffee and the internet is included in the room and great tuk-tuk facility for Nana station. Rooms are little bit old but were offered in clean environment. Staff friendly and helpful.

his hotel, located just at the end of the Soi 4, a few minutes away from Nana Plaza, offers its customers with a great service considering the low prices. The rooms are huge and the beds are too. The hotel seems to be a little old now but everything works fine. The lift and the TVs are not last generation but it’s okay since the price is low. The staff is friendly and helpful if you have any problem or need anything. In the end, a very good value everyone should know in Bangkok!

I stayed here twice in the month of November for a total of 7 nights. Rooms were spacious with quiet efficient air conditioning. TV had a good selection of channels, bathroom was clean. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with a good selection of Asian and Western food, lots of coffee and tea and cheerful staff. All round a very good, well priced, medium class hotel that i would recommend to anybody.

The rooms are very modern, clean and well maintained with large bathrooms that have a great shower. There are no patios on any of the rooms and the rooms are all no-smoking but the hotel offers a serviced outdoor patio off the lobby where you can order the drink of your choice, and smoke if you desire. The wireless Internet was free. The staff here were friendly and helpful.

I have stayed 2 nights in this hotel. The location is great, short walk to Asoke BTS and Sukhumvit MRT. A lot of restaurants and massage shops around. Room is big and clean with free Wifi, plasma TV and extremely comfortable bed. The staff are friendly and helpful. Overall it’s really great hotel to stay and good for value.

A great new hotel….on the main Sukhumvit road corner of Soi 31 hence the name S31! The Junior suites are fantastic, beautiful dark wood spiral staircase takes you up to a small living area with fridge freezer, sink and micro wave. Bedroom has a massive comfortable bed, floor to ceiling windows on all sides. Bathroom is first class with great shower and bath. Fantastic fitness room, good steam room. The floor to ceiling windows provide exhilarating views day and night.

The hotel is located at the end of soi 8 which means that it is very quiet, however a golf cart operates 24 hrs to take you to Sukhumvit road. The rooms are well furnished with LCD TV and great working A/C, cozy wooden floor, clean and comfortable. Hotel is ideal for those wanting a good location but somewhere they can retreat to after a hectic day or night for some rest. 10 mins walk from Nana BTS station.

The hotel could comfortably call itself 4 star and is small enough to have a “boutique feel” about it. The staff were professional, friendly, accommodating of our every request and always efficient, polite and discrete. In house room service food was very nice and delivered promptly. Room was clean, fresh, well stocked and supplied and was spacious and had plenty of storage. Service from staff was outstanding and every time I left the hotel I were asked if I would like to be driven to the main road in the shuttle.

Great location as Soi Cowboy is about a 100 yard stroll away but far away enough to have it quiet. Booked the deluxe room here for 4 nights, the room was very big and well appointed – bathrobes, slippers, a desk, coffee table, couch, good lighting, a decent-sized CRT TV. Buffet breakfast with good selection of European/Asian food. Hotel is known by taxi drivers and not far from Airport. A good value hotel in a central location to explore everything that Bangkok has to offer.

The location is very convenient and the hotel it self is a great hotel. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, with great service, the restaurant they have on the 7th level served a great selection of food that would suite anyone, the location is very convenient, right on Sukhmuvit road. The bed is extremely comfortable along with the rooms being well insulated from noises (can’t hear doors closing of other rooms) so you will always get a good night’s sleep. This is not always the case even at other five star properties in bangkok. The toiletries are excellent too.

Rooms are ok, its not a 5 star shiny posh-hotel, but it´s more “down to earth”, theres a good bed, fridge with mini-bar, tv, free drinking-water,clean shower/tub and clean towels. Just the way I like it best. I sleep like a baby here, never had problems of any kind with my stays in Woraburi. Tuk tuk to nana station…or 10 min walk. The pool-area at the roof is small but really nice,cozy and relaxing. Just perfect for chilling!

Was very surprised at how nice of a room I got for such a reasonable price. Fashionably decorated with nice touches like 42′ plasma tvs, washer and dryer units, and DVD players. Everything was very clean. The staff was exceptionally friendly. In the end very reasonably priced. Also The pools, and workout areas are amazing.

A good location, very easy to access to all the transport (BTS, MTR). Not to far to the night life… you just have to walk a few minutes…T he room is big and clean, nice kitchen with everything you need. Good bed, good batchroom, only thing that can be improved are the curtains in the bedroom, it gets light in the room very early so hard to sleep a bit longer. Overall, very positive!
