Siem Reap Guest Friendly Hotels

The bar girl friendly hotels stated below are all centrally located in Siem Reap and within walking distance of Pub street, the major nightlife spot of the city. In the few instances where they might be slightly out of the way I made sure to mention just how long of tuk tuk ride (from 5 to 15 minutes) it is to the center. These establishments are all very popular with like minded visitors and I have personally taken the time to contact each and every single one of them as of November 2012 to make sure their guest friendly policy is still in effect. You can check out the reply they provided with the hotels description. All offer both great value and good service while the rates themselves can greatly vary from budget to 5 star luxury.

Where is the action at in Siem Reap?

The bulk of the visitors who make their way to Siem Reap are more interested into daytime visiting of nearby temples than partying but this doesn’t mean there’s no mongering to be had. Most of the popular downtown bars are close to the river and market, down the appropriately named Pub Street. Freelancers which are referred to as taxi-girls in Cambodia are found roaming the bars in this part of town and more specifically at Martini Nightclub and Beer Garden, the liveliest disco in town. The Bakeng Night Club located on sivutha street near the night market is also packed full with dancing Khmer youngsters by 10pm every night. Then the Zanzy Bar, a late night dive also on sivutha street has scores of working girls.

But just what is a guest friendly hotel?

A hotel that is considered guest or Bargirl friendly / Guest Friendly / Girl Friendly simply means that the establishment will allow and won’t charge any extra to take back an unregistered guest up to your room. A joiner fee can cost anywhere around from 10 to 25$ a night but could be even higher depending on the hotel policy. So if you unknowingly book a non-guest friendly hotel and plan on taking a girl back up to your room everyday for a week then you’re going to be paying a lot more money unnecessarily or worst outright denied entry since Cambodian hotels are generally more strict than their Thai counterparts. Just to give you an example, out of the 160 that I contacted in Siem Reap only 25 responded favorably.. This is by no means an indication of their respectability as each hotel has different policies as long as you’re somewhat discreet. I have taken the time to e-mail them all personally to make sure about their policy and have given their reply with the hotel description.

Green Town Guest House $

182 Street 21, Wat Bo, Central, Siem Reap, Cambodia

This place is fantastic if you’re traveling on your own on a tight budget. Don’t expect anything fancy but the rooms are big and clean.. Staff is very friendly, free internet & WiFi. Good location as well. My criticisms were that the laundry service on site is a waste of time, slow and ineffective.

  • Guest Friendly policy reply from the Green Town Guest House: “Greeting from Green Town guesthouse i would like to confirm you that  when you want to bring girls into room  you have to ask for ID card to provide at the reception and i don’t charge for extra fee”.

Golf Angkor Hotel $

National Road 6, Phoum Krous Svay Dangkum, National Road 6, Siem Reap, Cambodia

The rooms at the Cozyna Angkor Hotel are big with excellent balconies and wood throughout. Definitely beautiful rooms for the price. Upsides are great staff, restaurant and excellent Khmer and Western free breakfast. The staff is very attentive.  Downsides during my stay were the very noisy maids who wake you early with constant banging.

  • Guest Friendly policy reply by the Golf Angkor Hotel: “Thanks for your mail, you can bring joiner without charge but she can’t eat breakfast in our restaurant. All guest will register up on arrival and joiner also copy ID to. Also she can’t eat breakfast in our restaurant unless book room for two“.

Parklane Hotel $

Steet Tapoul , Tapoul Village, Svay Dangkum Communce, Central, Siem Reap, Cambodia

For around 20 USD/night, I was initially concerned that the low price meant that the quality of the rooms wouldn’t be very good. Other positive online reviews  convinced me to give ii a try and am very glad that I did. For a clean hotel, centrally located that includes a decent breakfast and complimentary Internet, you can’t go wrong. Has big rooms and hot water. Walking distance from pub street, the main restaurant/bar street in Siem Reap. The only downside is that WiFi has no access from the 4th Floor up… You must go to the lobby and restaurant to access the it.

  • Guest Friendly policy reply by the Parklane Hotel: “Thank you for supporting our hotel, if you would provided your passport,he or she is your guest there will be no problem with us.”.

Sihanoukville Guest Friendly Hotels

The bar girl friendly hotels stated in this list are all found in Sihanoukville along or within walking distance of one of it’s many popular beaches: Ochheuteal Beach, Serendipity Beach or Victory Beaches. They are all very popular with like minded visitors and I have taken the time to personally contact each and every single one in November 2012 to make sure their guest friendly policy is still in effect. You can check out the reply they provided with the hotels description. All of these establishments offer both great value and good service while the rates themselves can greatly vary from budget to 5 star luxury.

Where is the action at in Sihanoukville?

In Sihanoukville your best bet is to try the beer bars in victory hill and around the golden lion roundabout or head downtown for the freedom bar and hunny bunny bar. On Ochheuteal Beach look for the dolphin, chivas shack or jack shack bars. Most of the other freelancers which are referred to as called taxi girls in Cambodia are found at the freedom bar and utopia and later roaming the beach until the early hours. Last but not least there’s the chicken farm, the local P4P scene. It’s basically a long row of huts and shacks set up along a dirt road on the edge of town.

But just what is a guest friendly hotel?

A hotel that is considered guest or Bargirl friendly / Guest Friendly / Girl Friendly simply means that the establishment will allow and won’t charge any extra to take back an unregistered guest up to your room. A joiner fee can cost anywhere around from 15 to 25$ a night but could be even higher depending on the hotel policy. In the main tourist area of sihanoukville. Close to beach. Good restaurants directly across the road. Hotel can arrange tours and book bus tickets. Room was spacious (tiled wall to floor), aircon is dated and noisy but effective, Wifi available in rooms but very slow. TV had good reception. Bedding and towels changed every day. Hot water was OK. The only negative was the breakfast, cold and congealed fried eggs with really weak tea, rice porridge was horrid. Had toast with jam every day as it was safest.

Mittapheap Hotel $$

262 Monivong boulevard Sangkat Boeungraing Khan Daun Penh, Phsar Thmey, Phnom Penh

The hotel rooms  were clean and modern and made up everyday. Each of them comes with a personal safety deposit box and the usual A/C , TV & free wifi . Pretty centrally located within Phnom Penh, it’s still a 5 minute tuk-tuk ride down to the waterfront. Only problem is rooms overlooking reception  can get a little noise from the Buddhist temple at 4am right next door.

  • Guest Friendly policy reply by the Mittapheap Hotel: “Greeting from Mittapheap Hotel- Phnom Penh.  Thanks for your email, please to inform you that if you book for double room, yes exactly your friend stay without charge”.

Paddy Rice $/$$

#213-217, Sisowath Quay, Riverfront, Phnom Penh

Popular bar that now has 12 brand new hotel rooms available with 6  of those with river views.  Great location, the manager is a nice guy and the staff well trained and helpful. The bar is based on a Irish sporting bar theme and works surprisingly well on the Phnom Penh riverfront, with a cooling breeze to keep the heat at bay.

  • Guest Friendly policy reply by the Paddy Rice Hotel: “Please be advised that there are no additional fees for your guests. Many thanks, Paddy Rice Hotel”.

Royal Inn Hotel $/$$

No. 128D8, Sothearos Blvd, Tonle Basac, Bouding, Phnom Penh

I enjoyed my stay at the royal inn, the hotel is pretty modern and the furniture, beds etc are adequate. It’s clear that the cleaning staff don’t completely maintain the new hotel to western standards, but they are on hand to ensure basic cleanliness. Location is ok, it’s not the best street with a couple of dilapidated buildings further up the street. The riverside and royal palace are not too far though. I never had any problems on the street and stayed for quite a long time at the Royal Inn.

  • Guest Friendly policy reply by the Royal Inn Hotel: “Thank you very much for your interest in our hotel. We do  not charge for extra joiner fee but must be register at counter”.
